In the coming weeks, you will find a 10 part blog post series outlining some of my most precious tips for mental health.
When it comes to mental health, I am a staunch advocate for individualized care which is what we address during patient visits. During our one-on-one sessions we figure out the biochemical and psychological puzzle that is unique to you, then figure out the roadmap to navigate you towards mental wellness. This takes time, and the purpose of this blog series is to provide you with a number of the foundational self-care practices that I don’t always have time to explain during our visits and that form the very bedrock of successful treatment. Please join me in this 10 part adventure and take on the tips and challenges to kickstart or re-invent your self-care routine.
It’s time to take charge of your life. Whether you feel like there are a million miles to travel before you will have a good self-care practice or you’re well entrenched in this world, but need some adjustments in a few areas, you are in the right place. How can we expect to feel our best from an occasional psychologist’s visit and a prescription drug while we continue to live our lives in the same ways? We must take responsibility for how we do our daily lives if we are to become our most healthy selves.
The 10 parts that I will be discussing are as follows:
- Overview (today)
- Creating Self-Care Moments
- Sleep
- Movement
- Relationships
- Stress management
- Nutrition & Hydration
- Building Resilience & Self-Confidence
- Personal Growth
- Moving Forward: Priorities, Staying on Track
If you’d like to launch on this journey with me, you’ll need a journal of some kind and around 30min following each blog post to reflect on how to integrate the lessons into your life: changes come gradually and while there may be other time commitments, it all depends on how much you set your mind to this.
As a first step, I recommend the following:
- Set 3 goals for yourself in terms of self-care or what you hope to achieve from this process
- Reach out to someone who might walk this path with you, hold you accountable or even take it on with you!
- Get clear on which areas, generally, you think might need the most work for yourself out of those listed above
Next post we will discuss how to structure a self-care practice and tips for staying committed. If you have any questions along the way, I can be reached via the clinic email, posted on our website.
Thank you for being committed to optimal mental wellness.
