Marda Loop Wellness is proud to be the first clinic in North America to offer the ENDOSURE TEST — a non-invasive, 30-minute, highly accurate way to detect endometriosis, with no referral required.
The ENDOSURE is a Class II licensed medical device in Canada that uses Electroviscerography (EVG), a non-invasive, painless test that measures the myoelectrical activity of your small bowel, caused by the presence of endometriosis anywhere in your system — similar to an EKG for your heart.
1. Prep (15 minutes)
You arrive wearing loose-fitting clothes.
Electrical sensors are gently applied to your skin of your belly.
You’ll stay comfortably reclined for the entire test.
2. Testing (30 minutes)
A baseline reading of your natural myoelectrical activity is taken.
You’ll then drink water for over 5 minutes, stopping when you feel full.
Your natural myoelectrical signals are monitored for 30 minutes.
No discomfort or medication required.
3. Test Results Review (15 min booked separately from test)
Your results are provided and reviewed by Dr. Sarah Roth either in person or in a virtual consult.
You might be wondering: how can a simple test on your abdomen reveal something as complex as endometriosis?
Here’s how it works—no surgery, no guesswork, just proven science:
Your digestive system and pelvic organs constantly send out tiny myoelectrical signals—sort of like messages between muscles and nerves. These signals can change when your body is inflamed or in pain.
During the ENDOSURE TEST, soft sensors placed on your belly gently record those signals while you rest. It’s completely painless. You stay fully clothed, and there’s no poking or prodding.
Next, advanced software studies the patterns in those myoelectrical signals. Endometriosis can cause noticeable disruptions in how your nerves and organs communicate—even before lesions show up on scans or cause visible damage.
ENDOSURE technology compares your specific signal to those of thousands of women with confirmed endometriosis. It looks for signs that match mild, moderate, or severe disease.
Endometriosis can spread beyond the pelvic cavity to other parts of the anatomy such as the thoracic cavity, brain, spine, and sciatic nerve leg channels.
So even if endometriosis is present anywhere in your body, the ENDOSURE TEST will detect it, regardless of other concomitant diseases or health conditions.
It doesn’t require an image or a biopsy, and it helps reveal how much your body is being affected — early, clearly, and non-invasively.
1998: Researchers discovered that endometriosis tissue releases prostaglandins (PGF2α and PGE2), which disrupt the body’s pacemaker cells (ICCs) in the gut. This causes high-frequency bowel muscle contractions that can be detected on the surface of the abdomen.(Mathias JR et al., 1998)
2004–2015: The GIMA signature was validated in more than 4,500 men and women with chronic pelvic pain. Only patients with endometriosis showed the distinctive GIMA signal — it was absent in those with IBS, Crohn’s, colitis, PCOS, UTI, PID, gallbladder disease, and other conditions.
2007–2017: In a blinded study of 50 women, the test correctly identified all 25 endometriosis cases and all 25 non-cases, with 96% sensitivity and 96% specificity. Results were unaffected by age, hormone use, or pain levels. (Noar M et al., Interim Data, 2024)
2017–2019: A formal IRB-approved, clinical trial at the Women’s Hospital of Texas enrolled 154 women. All results were confirmed by laparoscopic surgery. (Noar M et al. 2024)

The ENDOSURE TEST is a non-invasive, highly accurate 30-minute diagnostic procedure that detects endometriosis by analyzing myoelectrical activity—natural electrical signals generated by the body’s muscles. Using thee sensors placed on the abdomen, the test records these signals with an electroviscerogram (EVG), similar to how an EKG monitors the heart. The ENDOSURE system then analyzes the patterns for unique signal signatures found only in individuals with endometriosis.
No. The test is completely non-invasive and painless. There are no needles, blood draws, or tissue samples required. It does not involve sedation or anesthesia.
Very accurate.
Between 2004 and 2015, researchers validated the distinctive GIMA (gastrointestinal myoelectrical activity) signature in over 4,500 men and women with chronic pelvic pain. This unique signal was found only in patients with endometriosis and was absent in those with other conditions such as IBS, Crohn’s disease, colitis, PCOS, UTIs, PID, gallbladder disease, and more—demonstrating its specificity to endometriosis.
Between 2017 and 2019, a clinical trial at the Women’s Hospital of Texas evaluated the ENDOSURE Test on 154 women, with all results confirmed by laparoscopic surgery. The test accurately identified all 43 participants with known endometriosis (43/43) and all 62 participants without the disease (0/62). Among 49 women suspected of having endometriosis, the test correctly identified 47 cases—matching surgical results. These findings show the test is highly accurate in both confirmed and suspected cases. (Noar M et al. 2024)
-The test lasts about 30 minutes, plus 10–20 minutes for prep.
- Three electrodes are placed on the skin of the abdomen.
-You’ll recline during the test; wear loose-fitting clothing.
- A baseline signal is recorded for 10–15 minutes.
- You’ll perform a water load satiety test (drinking water until full).
- Remain relaxed and inclined for 30 more minutes and the test is complete.
- 3 days before: Stop taking nausea and antispasmodic medications*
- 2 days before: Discontinue opioid pain medications*
- 8 hours before: Nothing by mouth except small sips of water
- 2 hours before: No water after this point
- Night before: No food after midnight
*Always consult your healthcare provider before making any medication changes.
No. For accurate results, do not schedule the EDNSOURE TEST during menstruation.
There are no known risks. This is a licensed Class II medical device by Health Canada . The test uses safe surface electrodes and poses no harm. Let your technician know if you have allergies to adhesives.
Although results are available immediately, Dr. Sarah Roth will personally review your test results with you in a brief 15-minute appointment—either in person or virtually. The review can take place as early as the same day as the test.
